Antes de Morphine, este era el proyecto de Mark y su combo. Teloneros de Bob Dylan han sido un grupo de culto para los fanáticos del Phoenix de Boston. Junto a David Champaigne componían los temas, David tocaba la armónica, Mark la guitarra bajo y Jerome Dupree el futuro baterista de Morphine, el Cocktail Drum, una batería super básica, apenas un bombo, un redoblante, otro tamborsito y un platillo y así sonaban los Treat Her Right...

El tema empieza suavecito y va tomando un crescendo de angustia y ansiedad por la situación descrita tan magistralmente en la letra, una amalgama perfecta entre la lírica y la melodía.

¿y tu qué responderías si a mitad de la noche, conversando con una linda chica que acabas de conocer en un bar al calor de un trago y con quien todo parece fluir, aparece un tipo apuntándote con una escopeta y te pregunta: por qué le has comprado un trago?
